Welcome to our class blog!

When the foreign students from France and Spain visited recently, I asked them to record some dialogues that you could listen to and learn from. I’ve set up those recordings as podcasts, so you can listen to them online or even download them to your iPod.

You can find them here.

Enjoy! And let me know what you think.

    Dear Sally,

What a wonderful way for students to hear the language from native speakers. You really capitalized on having our Spanish and French visitors in your classroom!

Maybe our students can now do similar conversations as podcasts.

This is preaty interesting because those sentences seem to basic for them and I think thats why they were laughing. It sounds different coming from a native speaker than from someone who normally speaks english.

i listened to the socializing podcast and they introduced themselves then talked about things they liked to do. they like to play sports and listen to music. then they talked about there brothers and sisters.
i thought it was cool to listen to the conversation.

I am excited that students are listening and understanding most or all of what the French and Spanish students are saying. It is important to remember to pick out key words and be open to new accents and vocabulary. Sometimes you can understand the content of the conversation by picking up words in context.

Keep up the good work, and know that this quarter I will give extra credit to those students who would like to produce their own podcast using any one of the speaking tasks (A through D) that we practice in class!

I thought that the pod casts were really cool. It was really fun being able to hear what their accents were like when they were here and now we can hear them everyday!
The only podcast I had trouble understanding was the one about community.

I listened to the Spanish podcasts as well as the French ones. I’m glad to say that I could understand most of the French. They’re accent is very deep, so sometimes it’s hard to understand. It was fun recognizing voices of the students that I’ve met!

I enjoyed listening to the podcasts- it helped me to listen to them and translate what there were saying, especially since they spoke so quickly. I found that I could figure it out quicker than I thought!

I listened to the recording about what they liked about Croton. They talked quickly and had heavy acccents so i had some trouble understanding what they were saying. But i did understand some of it like, croton is a small town and all that stuff.

    peace.

    Bonjour!

I love the podcasts. They’re so much fun to listen too. I even understood some of what they were saying! It’s so much fun to listen to another language!

    Hey Mrs. Barnes,
I like the site, apart from the fact that the URL is senora Barnes. Oh well. I think that all the podcasts are interesting, especially because i can actually understand a bunch of what the French students are saying! Yay! I really like the site!
